Want to trade direction, either bullish or bearish? Volatility concerns? Are options expensive or are they cheap? What should I do? Should I spread them off? If IV is not low, it's high. Options are expensive so I should use a spread instead of buying just the option. Debit spread or credit spread, that is the question. If I use the credit spread, do I get paid to trade? What are the advantages or disadvantages of the debit spread or credit spread? Is there even a difference?
Find out when Joe Contes (Optionetics Instructor) and Devon Pearsall (Profit Strategies Instructor) square off during the session "Battle of the Spreads."
You'll learn what a spread is and the best ways (and under what conditions) to use them. These two instructors have differing opinions and you will totally enjoy watching them battle it out over the debit spread (Bull Call and Bear Put) versus the "credit" spread (Bull Put and Bear Call) as they are referred to in your course materials. Don't miss this one, it's going to be quite the show!

As a trader, it's easy to make mistakes when you're learning or if you're testing a new system or strategy. Money management, education and a good mentor or coach is what prevents any mistake from being your last.
This session will share some common mistakes traders make, and how to avoid them. It's better to learn from someone experienced, rather than to make the same mistakes that can be easily avoided if you know what to watch for!

You have all heard the unprecedented success that can be had with the Collar Strategy, and if you didn't initially see the benefit of a collar before, this year has certainly had to change your mind. If you are looking for and edge that most traders ignore, this session is not to be missed. The vast majority of traders focus solely on technical and/or fundamental data in order to find trades. In this fast-paced session, veteran trader and author Jay Kaeppel will lay out a variety of strategies for using reliable seasonal trends in the financial markets to help zero in on high probability trades. Jays experience in analyzing seasonal trends culminated in his latest book, Seasonal Stock Market Trends. In this session, Jay will use some material from this book and from other works to build a strategy that involves using seasonal trends to find a good trading candidate, then incorporates a trend-following approach to increase the odds of success. The final piece of the strategy is a unique trade selection method that focuses on finding the right trade to take maximum advantage of the expected move.

Steve Novak
Instructor
Optionetics
|
Steven Novak has been trading stocks and options since 1999, with 2002 marking his first year as a full-time trader. His initial foray into trading was typical--he lost a lot of money very quickly. But the same passion for reading and learning that had propelled him while studying literature in college proved useful in his trading education. He noticed that nearly every great trader he met or read about started out by paying hefty tuition in trading losses. He also noticed that some people quit and never came back after that happened, while others used their mistakes as a learning opportunity to teach them how to trade better next time, and it was to this camp that he determined to become a member.
